Dr. Mohamed Abdelkhalek – Consultant in Critical Care Medicine

Dr. Mohamed Abdelkhalek graduated from Alexandria University and obtained his Master’s degree in Critical Care Medicine from Cairo University. He also holds the European Diploma in Intensive Care.

With extensive expertise in critical care, Dr. Abdelkhalek is proficient in various life-saving procedures and patient management, including:

• Insertion of central lines, dialysis catheters, and arterial lines with or without ultrasound guidance

• Advanced airway management for difficult cases

• Pleural tapping with pig tail insertion

• Management of sepsis and septic shock in accordance with the latest guidelines

• Both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation management

• Handling of diverse medical, cardiac, neurological, and endocrinological emergencies

• Long-term management and rehabilitation of ventilated patients

Dr. Abdelkhalek has also been involved in several significant research projects, such as studying the characteristics and outcomes of critically ill patients with COVID-19 pneumonia admitted to tertiary care centers in the UAE during the first wave of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Additionally, he has researched the role of CT chest scans as predictors of outcomes for COVID-19 patients in the ICU.
